Readings in Christopher Hitchens, Bernard Lewis, and Others

Per our review work in class today with Wright chp. 15 and the videos of Hitchens and Lewis, I direct your attention to a page from our course website entitled “Readings For Discussions of the World After 9/11.”  This page is linked to the Wright Study Guide

Excerpts from the dialogue in print that took place in The Nation between Noam Chomsky and Christopher Hitchens shortly after 9/11 can be found here.  You will also find Lewis’ article, “What Went Wrong?” (a summary of the thesis and argument of his book by the same title), and Lewis’ article on the February 23, 1998 fatwa declaring war on the United States (mentioned at the end of chp. 15 in Wright). Finally, you will find the article he wrote for the New Yorker, “Islam in Revolt” (Nov. 19, 2001).
