Article Summary

Time: November 2008

Place: Washington DC and the United States in General

Key People: Obama, Bush, American People

Vocabulary:

Main Ideas:  George W. Bush will not get the impeachment that he has so thoroughly earned, but at least there will be the scene of ecstatic young Americans wishing him to be gone from the White House that he illegitimately claimed in the stolen election of 2000.”

This article expresses the author and Arab people’s joy at the election of Obama, while also revisiting the “day of infamy” when Bush became president with the help of the Supreme Court. There is extensive discussion of the protests by some Americans against Bush’s victory over Gore, and the article questions the validity of the American democracy at Bush’s second term victory.

Your Response to the Article: I was glad to see that our foreign image has improved with the election of Obama. I was surprised however at the author’s extensive coverage of the past ten+ years in the White House and Washington.
